This handcrafted mortar is produced by the largest mortar company in Japan, founded in 1874. The grinding grooves on the inside of the mortar are carved by hand.
Use it for grinding spices, nuts, and/or mixing ingredients to make dipping sauces. The spouted lip (Katakuchi) makes it easier to pour the contents.
This mortar comes with a pestle, made of dark cypress using scraps from lumber which is very eco-friendly. It has a natural aroma scent and fits in your hand well.
