Glazed stoneware・Pear Ash
Wang Wen De is a master of visual tension. Throughout his work, soft lines play against geometry, and ethereality pairs with gravity.
In this stoneware teapot, the delicate tilt of the spout and handle are thrown into relief against a wash of earthen glaze. Rivulets of grey green pear ash, mixed into the glaze, run vertically down the body of the pot, following the grooves in the clay where the artist’s fingers rested. This contrast of form and unexpected glaze choice keeps the eye in motion, a constant exploration of a beautiful form. At 173ml capacity, it is perfectly sized to brew tea for two. A built in strainer on the inside of the spout allows for quick, clean pouring. Only 5 available.
*Please take note that each pot may be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is unique, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
