Hand-formed・Zi ni (purple clay)・280ml
This is one of five pots we commissioned from a young and promising ceramicist named Pan Yi. We first met and worked with Ms. Pan in 2013, and were impressed by her genuine dedication to her craft, and her family’s artistic history. Her studio is located in Dingshan.
The name of this tea pot roughly translates to mean “kiln changed well”. Crafted with “zi ni” or purple clay from Huang Long, its slightly round silhouette has the appearance of a traditional Chinese well. To achieve the unique metallic tone, the tea pot was “kiln-changed”, intentionally “over-fired” to draw out the iron oxide in the clay. We commissioned only three pieces in this series.
Artist signature is stamped onto the underside of the teapot. Seven outlets arranged in a hexagonal pattern allow for quick drainage.
Usage and care: Thoroughly rinse particles of sand from the interior before use. Dedicate one tea type per pot. Eventually, a tea pot will be seasoned with the particular character of a tea. Hand-wash only without soap or detergent.
Dimensions: 70mm tall, 94mm body diameter・Tea Pot Name: 窯變井欄壺
