Stoneware・Matte white glaze
Wang Wen De is a master of visual tension. Throughout his work, soft lines play against geometry, and ethereality pairs with gravity.
Feather light fingerprints draw vertical lines up the body of this water bowl, our first from the artist, and an integral part of gong fu tea preparation. A powder white shino glaze undulates across these grooves, following the artist’s hands. These soft features are stabilized by a rotund profile and necked rim of the bowl. It’s a balance of shapes and textures that keep the eye in motion, a constant exploration of a beautiful form.
*Please take note that each pot can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is different, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
