An engrossing texture of thickly applied shino glaze draws the hand to the surface of these small, tactile tea bowls from Taiwanese potter, Zhang Yun Cheng. Mounds and crevices break at random, a map of small trails for fingers to follow. Quick strokes of cobalt oxide highlights the rim of each piece, breaking through the pillows of white glaze, pooling here and there in a concentrated constellation of dark blues and burnt umber.
Pictured is one in a series of similar pieces. Slight variations are possible from piece to piece, a hallmark of hand-made pottery. The piece you receive may vary slightly from the photographed item.
