Shino-glazed stoneware・Cobalt・Wood-fired
Rich, pillowy shino glaze covers the exterior of this medium-sized vase, mimicking the texture of a campfire marshmallow. Thrown on the potters wheel and then altered, the vase has three distinct sides, and deeply grooved foot, with hand-cut facets. The thick white glaze is semi-opaque, and in the right light, shadowed forms of sweeping cobalt oxide can be seen on each of the three sides.
The foot features the artist's signature, as well as his stamp, both turned a toasty orange from the licks of flame in the kiln.
Usage and care: glazed inside and out, this vase is watertight and can be used with arrangements fresh and dried. It can be washed with dish soap when needed.
