Unglazed・Stoneware
We collaborated with Taiwanese ceramicist Zhang Yun Cheng to design this custom stoneware gaiwan just for Song.
This two piece unglazed vessel features a large 200ml capacity bowl with a smooth interior, and a highly textured exterior. The curvature of the lid echoes the curvature of the bowl, and ends in an elongated finial.
We’ve been using one of these gaiwans during our communal tastings and they are the ideal size for drinking tea with friends.
Usage and care: Unglazed stoneware pieces will season very slowly over time, though limited porosity allows for use of different tea types. Exterior of the teapot will deepen in color and develop a rich luster with use. Hand-wash only without soap or detergent.
