Stoneware・Hand-painted
Thrown from dark brown stoneware clay, Erin’s newest collection of Shiboridashi is festooned with garlands of yellow petaled flowers, carved into the claybody in loose, playful line work. A soft confetti of pink glaze adds movement to the design, further emphasing the joyful nature of the artist’s work.
Inside the shiboridashi, a simple layer of white slip serves as a fresh canvas for your tea leaves, their aromatics and tasting notes mirrored by the flowers without. A dexterously thrown lid, gently curved rim, and deft spout make pouring simple from these larger 180ml gaiwans.
This series is accompanied by pairs of , glazed to match.
* Please take note that each gaiwan can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each gaiwan is hand made and unique, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
Usage and care: Glazed pots are suitable for all tea types. Simply rinse, or hand wash gently between uses. Mild detergent and a soft sponge are ok.
